Where to get it You can get clean.exe here. Loading clean.exe Clean is not a Windows developed application and will therefore not be available on normal boot disks. Once you have downloaded the actual application, it is your choice how to store it (boot disk, seconday floppy disk, CD, ZIP disk etc) The way you store it will not matter, just as long as it is accessible in DOS. WARNING: Using this application will cause all the data on the selected drive to be voided. Partitioning and formatting will need to be performed before the drive can be used again. Use with extreme caution. Using clean.exe Before using clean, make sure that any data you require has been backed up as this will cause all data to be voided. Load your computer into DOS using a boot disk. Enter into DOS and insert the media that you have clean stored on (it doesn't matter if you need to remove your boot disk). Move to the drive with the application on it, for example, if I replaced the floppy disk in the drive, I would type A: and press enter. If you want to make sure that you have to application on the disk, you can type dir to make all the files and folders scroll down the screen. To run clean. all you have to do is type the name of the exe and press enter. You will be prompted to confirm the action. Once the task is complete, you will return to the DOS prompt (for example A:>). From here, you can run fdisk to repartition your drive and then format it after rebooting (this is required). |
