What is format? Format is a command that can be used in DOS to completely delete everything from a hard drive. This includes the operating system. This command should only be used by someone who knows what they are doing as mass data loss occurs. Where can I get format? Format can be acquired on a bootable floppy disk available here. There are windows applications that can also format a drive, but they cannot format the drive with the operating system installed on it. WARNING: Format will cause total data loss on whichever drive it is used on. |
